A Rare Omega De Ville Deauville Automatic with a Metallic Brushed Blue Dial and Tank Key-Bolt Compressor Case in Superb Condition, c.1974
The Omega De Ville watch has a rich history that traces its origins back to 1960, when it was first introduced by the renowned Swiss luxury watchmaker, Omega SA. Initially, the De Ville was part of the Seamaster series, which is one of Omega’s most iconic and enduring lines. The Seamaster collection, launched in 1948, was known for its water-resistant features and robust designs suitable for adventurers and professionals alike.
However, as the years progressed, there emerged a demand for a more elegant and dressier timepiece that retained Omega’s hallmark precision and quality. Responding to this demand, Omega decided to carve out a distinct identity for the De Ville series in 1967. The separation marked the birth of a collection that would be synonymous with sophistication and classic design. Unlike its Seamaster siblings that leaned towards sportiness and durability under extreme conditions, the De Ville was crafted with elegance, simplicity, and wearability in mind—targeting those who appreciated fine watchmaking in more formal settings.
The DeVille Deauville line of tank watches encompasses three of the largest and most visually striking tank watch designs ever produced by Omega in the 1970s.
